From the mid 19th century, fishermen gathered from large parts of Nordfjord to partake in the winter cod fishing in Torskangerpollen. In that regard several sea lodges were built, where fishermen lived. Even though the lodges no longer house fishermen, large parts of the fishing village are still there.
